Jill Sobule’s work was at once deeply personal and socially conscious, seriously funny and derisively tragic. In a dozen albums spanning three decades of recording, the Denver-born songwriter/guitarist/singer tackled such topics as the death penalty, anorexia nervosa, shoplifting, reproduction, the French Resistance, adolescent malaise, LGBTQ issues, and the Christian Right. Her hits include “I Kissed A Girl”—the first openly gay-themed song ever to crack the Billboard Top 20—and the alt-rock anthem “Supermodel” featured in the film Clueless. Sobule was one half of The Jill & Julia Show, providing music while actor Julia Sweeney contributed storytelling. Jill was considered a pioneer in crowdfunding and constantly explored and creating new models for artists in an ever-changing music industry.

Jill’s latest record, F*ck 7th Grade - Original Cast Recording was released on her own Pinko Records label on June 6th, 2025 - digital only (a physical release will get scheduled as soon as her estate is out of probate hell). Her theater credits included a musical adaptation of the Broadway classic Yentl, Prozak and the Platypus, and Times Square. In November of 2019 Jill sang a song as herself on an episode of the Simpsons. F*ck 7th Grade ran off-Broadway for four (4) runs in three (3) years and gained a New York Times Critics Pick. Drama Desk nominated this autobiographical musical, which premiered at the Wild Project in 2022; had a reboot in the Winter of 2023 - and ran again for three weeks in 2024.

Also on June 6th of 2025, Rhino Records released her self-titled Atlantic Records album on red vinyl for the first time - to time with Pride Month! Last year marks the album’s 30th Anniversary! Universal also released the Clueless soundtrack on vinyl for the first time last year too.

Following her untimely demise on May 1st, many of her previously scheduled shows morphed into Jillith Fair - Loving Jill Sobule shows, benefiting the new Jill Sobule Legacy Foundation. Funds will be distributed by this foundation to the ACLU and other causes Jill cared deeply about, as well as to help fund re-issues, the release of material from Jill’s vaults, and a tribute album set for release Jan 1th, 2027. The hope is that these “Jillith” shows will become annual events during her birthday month (January 16th was her birthday).

We hope to help keep her spirit, memory, & music alive.

Whoa, that's a big statement. But it's totally true.

Here's how it goes.

When Andrew and Wendy first considered going on "that expensive Star Wars thing at Disney", they knew it would be more fun to go with friends. Those friends had to be special, and they immediately thought of Katt and Dennis Adams. The foursome voyaged multiple times, and when the Starcruiser closed, they pooled their expertise (cooking, playwriting, graphic design, and engineering) to create the Galactic Dinners you've enjoyed.

So where does Vance fit in?

The Vogels and the Adamses were separately fans of Vance's music when Covid hit but the couples had never met. As venues for live music disappeared overnight, career musician Vance found himself without anyone to play for. He started his weekly Acoustic Pajama Party, a Monday night YouTube where he plays to a dedicated group of fans, including both the Adamses and the Vogels. Instant online friends, the couples met when Vance came to Cincinnati and played a private concert at The Watchful Owl (the intimate performance venue hidden in the Vogel's basement) for 40 fans, and the Adamses drove down from Wisconsin to see their favorite musician perform. Online friends became actual friends, and when the Vogels needed Star Wars travel buddies, Katt and Dennis were the first phone call.
