~ VANCE’S MONDAY NITE ACOUSTIC PAJAMA PARTY 6TH ANNIVERSARY THIS MONDAY NITE Monday nite 3/30. I mean, 6 years?

~ BLACK JASON ISBELL - Reprint from last week, I know. So? Fight me...I’ve never sung better.

~ MODEL PLANE EVANGELISM # 1 - I played (killed it) to a house of 800 people last week opening for Paul Reiser. These lovely people - building’s owner (and builder of the hall!!!)’s wife asked if she could pray for my continued healing after hearing I had had cancer. I said, “Yes please, but I’m not Christian - is that OK?" She assured me it was fine. We sat, she took my hands and said the wondrous things.

Post-show that evening the other owner saw my Flying Aces Club T shirt and wondered what was up with that and the hat and the socks. Crew was breaking down, security was trying to leave, and there I was showing video after video to 4 people, mouths agape at these watercolor-esque, silent, tissue-covered, twisted rubberband-powered, free-flying versions of real planes. That glint was in my eye, that glow was in my voice, as I almost said out loud, “Have you heard the word of...?"

~ CHINESE BUFFET - I am praying that that place I went to in Charleston wasn’t seating all people of color all to one side and all people of not to the other, because the lo-mein was so good. Hypersensitive - maybe. Seeing color in and about everything - yes, a great part of the time. Wrong - I hope so. Reactive because of walking the planet in this particular skin suit for 67 years. Yes. It’s not a card that gets played. It’s not a game, it's my day-to-day. Question my motives and me if you like, dismiss my radar entirely at your peril.

~ MODEL PLANE EVANGELISM # 2 - Parking attendant Tuesday night after my welcoming speech at the Folk Americana Roots Hall Of Fame induction ceremony (I was responsible for Aretha Franklin) saw the hat and the and the guitar and wondered what I did for a living. The minivan came up. “Oh you mean with the radios...?”, he questions after I mention model planes 11:30pm, people waiting for cars.
