Dearest VanceFan,

I had a big old “writing“ planned for today where I was going to comedically whine about things in life. Then my friend and veterinarian supreme Monica Mansfield called me with tickets to see another friend, the genius Willy Porter, do his thing at Second Shift Concerts, a series of acoustic music curated by Mark Erelli at the Charles River Museum of Industry and Innovation.

Yes, Willy Porter is a genius. Period. I knew that going. Clearly, I had forgotten how genius he was. His voice is like a bell, his songwriting is magnificent, and the guitar playing...the grooves...It’s like Leo Kottke and Earth, Wind & Fire had a weird baby.
