WISE STUFF
Some of you think I’m wise. Pfffft.
I was having a rough stretch, so I went for a nighttime run to go “owl fishing”, where I go past this stand of trees about 1.7 miles away in hopes of seeing an owl. It’s happened exactly once before. That makes for a 3.5 mile run as I loop, and gives me some connection to both the zen feel of a night run and a wiser view of our world thanks to this swivel-necked bird.
I got about 1/4 mile away and saw this owl on a wire, so I only got partially wisdom infused. Sorry:
~ Why would the NFL play in Scotland and Brazil? The effects of haggis on a touchdown? Samba after every field goal?
~ Why does my remote suddenly only 1/2 work? I can change channels and get Netflix but I can’t change the volume or shut the TV off.
~ News headline: “Scientist build a robot that is part fungus, part machine”. I run out to see if anyone is looking in my minivan
~ My friend Joe said I was “the Black Kramer”. I was horrified. “What would make you say that?”, I axed. He told me that I have said it numerous times about myself. He was right. I need to have a talk with me.
~ “This page left purposefully blank” in a bill. WELL PUT SOMETHING ON IT!!! Tell a dad joke or something
~ OKOK, some real wisdom - from friend Karen Schneiderman: “Kindness can cascade. We can only try.”
~ Some genius from Nancy Chestnut: "Your melodies support the natural rhythm of speech”
~ Finally a rework of the first lines of my hit “Unfamiliar Moon” by Martin Kelly so I don’t take anything too seriously:
“Unfamiliar Soup
Comes from outer space
Is it alien goo?
Or just tomato paste?”
