2) SUSAN WERNER AND ANAIS MITCHELL AIN’T THE ONLY FOLKY PEOPLE WRITING MUSICALS

* I’m friends enough to get back stage to say “hi”. Once, some years ago, I was invited backstage post-show and we got to chatting and I decided to ask:

(Me): "Richard, I’ve been practicing that hybrid picking technique thing that you do” (where the player uses a pick tween thumb and pointer finger to strum or play bass parts *whilst* the middle finger and the ring finger are free to play other strings) “…and I’m finding that after a while of doing it the best I can, my hand starts to cramp. Is there something maybe I’m doing wrong? Any suggestions?”

I can’t believe I get to query live-time of one of my idols. What a gift. I’m sitting here at the feet of the master.

Richard: "Well Vance, it’s not for everyone."

Dead silence. Then we both laugh like hyenas.

** BOURNE IDENTITY: THE MUSICAL

Song list:

~ Do You Know Who I Am? - Me Either (Bourne)

~ It’ll Come Back (ship’s doctor & Bourne)

~ Eef You Keel Me, You Bettah Keel Me Dead! (Wombosi and band)

~ Do The Wombosi (full cast African dance piece)

~ Last Chance, Marie (this one is for real, about an outlaw giving his lover a last chance to bail or they have to run together)

~ Look What They Make You Give (sung by the dying agent sent to kill Bourne)

~ Treadstone: The Finale

There’s more. What a weird and challenging one-man show this would be. Or maybe show the scene from the movie the song is about on a big screen, and perform it.

I need help, don’t I?
