FROM A FEW DAYS AGO
Dear Diary,
from top to bottom, clockwise from top left that:
1) neighborcat hunting birds from the bench outside my window. He like “What? You know where I live, and my humans love you so shuddup you ain't saying nothing.” Next came…
2) my appointment with my hygienist and dentist. These awesome people - gifted me 1/2 price cleaning during Covid. They’re gold. So of course I had to wear my Halloween teeth for the cleaning and subsequent imaging. Ohh that was fun. Hygienist gasped and hollered, dentist came in and did the same, and man oh man, it was worth it.
Payback? “Fine, then these pics are entered into your official dental record now along with the real ones. So don’t go dying in a fire somewhere because this is what the cops and the coroner will see…..”
3) Post-dental stuff I always treat myself to a new Chinese place in my dentist’s area. This was some kind of chicken with steampunk wagon wheels. Text my niece who’s lived in China and she says the wheels are lotus root. And some pretty red peppers. I felt so authentic as there were only Asian folks eating here. The 6 - 10 Chinese words of politeness I know got their effect of welcome, then the eye-roll-head-shaking at my pronunciation. Look how authentic! - fork is buried neath a napkin, chopsticks at the ready, all the Asian folks in the restaurant are using forks, but never mind that I dug in and….
4) I extricated a plate's-worth of the pretty red peppers. My mouth still tender. Authentic eating tho. So my mouth on fire, but it’s authentic food, and still...
5) I still took the leftovers home. yes. Yes I rinsed them off in the sink. Yes. Yes I did. Yes. I think my new blues name will be Hot Gums Gilbert. How do I say that in Chinese?
