GRATEFUL AT A TIME OF LIVING IN A SAD WORLD

I played City Vineyard in NYC’s Tribeca last friday. I was worried, for NY shows have been thinly attended in my career. And there’s still flashbacks from one very famous club up the street that still owes me $66 from my show in April - yes, *sixty-six dollars* - no names because it’s too little to sue them and I’m not like that because this is a positive-vibe post ok The Rockwood.

My ride down was to one of the best thriller audiobooks ever.
Street parking was easy.
Beautiful view off of a wharf.
Sound Person Cam was the best.
I had unbelievably roasted Brussel sprouts. I got the recipe from the Chef
Staff was wonderful.
Not a sell-out, but full house - more than they’ve had in quite a while. Outcome?

House Staff loved the show.

Kitchen Staff poked their heads out of the kitchen and said they loved the show.

Property manager came in and found me to tell me he loved the show.

Joe Morton from “Scandal" and "Brother From Another Planet" loved the show.

Twenty-something table of folks that turned out to be sent by one of my old model airplane flying friend’s, who’s daughter has these HUGE eyes just like her mom loved my show.

Long standing friends that let me film "Good Good Man" video in their house, having seen me umpteen times said, “Are you ever on your game..." Loved the show.

House manager that actually paid me money and said he loved the show.

Security Guard - a 6ft 6in brother that gave me a primer list of post 90’s rappers for me to look at - loved the show.

Under-25 door staff that were Spotifying everything from Chaka Khan to Dolly Parton to Barbara Streisand/Barry Gibb duet as they cleaned up said they loved the show.

Motel 6 an hour away was comfy. I slept like a 60+ year old musician for whom things are kinda happening late career.

Grateful. So bring me your rough world. Come to a show. I got you. Your job is showing up. You did. You do. Thanks.

Even the lyric “I’m happy to hold your world in my hands for a lifetime if it gives you a second to smile” has more meaning.

Grateful.
