there’s a poster hanging over my desk and i mean over my desk of Canadian airplanes through time and it’s behind my screen in the corner of my office but the top left tack has come out and it now looms over me like an awry aviation awning and for a guy that loves airplanes you’ll laugh but I detest heights and climbing onto things to get things done (gutters be damned she did that till we got the cap thingies) so this poster looms like some aviation history crappily metaphoric sword of Damocles with my age, time, skills, time, punch list, and time printed on it in chronologic airplane speak and it’s not like I'm trying to be famous per say - and thanks for all the lovely cards and notes sayin “you’re famous in my house” and “quit worrying about that” - and maybe being famous maybe is a misnomer and a false destination but still a measure of being widely known enough that bigger rooms are filled with people wanting to know what I’ll say next where I help more and more folks see the song poet inside theyselfss through me and my mortgage paid off and a minivan with less than 140K miles on it as my indicator litmus that i have reached some place for you and me and my poetry and music before i wear out this second pacemaker so in gratitude to you and me i’ll keep tearing your and my rotator cuffs and trapezius and rhomboidal muscles to reach that next wrung or at least high enough to put that tack back into the top of this poster, thank you all.
