I thought you’d get a kick out of this story. I gave to my local chapter of the EAA (Experimental Aircraft Association) in October of 2020 around my birthday. Well, thanks, Covid, here’s what happened to the check:

"Hi Vance-
This would be a funny story if it wasn’t so embarrassing. My wife Denise and I decided to do the club a little favor and cleaned the gathering room at our hanger the other day. We had noticed that it needed it after sitting vacant for over a year. As we made our way around the room we came across an envelope addressed to the EAA Chapter 106. On the envelope it was noted; ATTN: Youth Scholarship Fund. When we opened it we found a nice letter from you explaining your profession and how you donate 10% of what you take in. There was a check in with the letter for $100.00 made out to EAA Chapter 106 Scholarship Fund. It was dated 10/16/20.

When I tried to deposit the check today; the teller said it was too old and would bounce. It would also cause a fee or charge to us. Would you like to make another check out?

Please call or email me and tell me what you would like to do. I would love to hear about your rubber band/free flight interests. So sorry about the mix-up.

Rich Snyder
VP EAA 106

"Hi Rich!!

Well this is indeed hysterical...friggin COVID and people finally getting out...

Here’s what I’ll do - I’ll re-pitch on my mailing list/social media, and again make this group the cornerstone of the next show. I’ll send out another check. Please look again for another check sometime soon!!

Man, I’m still laughing...

P.S This donation in memory of Brigadier General Charles McGee, Tuskegee Airman"
