Hi.

I’ve been working on the liner notes for “The Mother Of Trouble”, and I just started to type in the names of each and every donator, names eventually arranged alphabetically and artistically on the inside CD cover as thanks for donations, when an overwhelming wave of something hit me. Something like gratitude mixed with disbelief stirred with humility and responsibility and joy, so I had to just stop and take stock of the folks that donated to this CD. They are:

Doctors,
Lawyers,
Jobless,
Millionaires,
Gay people,
Ultra-right-winged folks,
Radical leftist lesbians,
At least 2 trans folks that I know of,
Christians,
Black folks,
Jews,
People Ages 16 to 92,

People I'm sure are angry at me for something,
Best Friends,
Cousins from both sides,
Hindus,
Mentally ill people claiming to be dead,
Musicians,
Managers,
Booking agents,
Mechanics,
Indigenous Native folks,
Muslims,

People who did jail time,
People who, in a lucid moment, donated though suffering with dementia,

…and they’ve entrusted me with me doing my art, my way, with their money, and it hit me how important this release really is, next thing i’m just a weepy mess, and still typing away.

Like I’ve said, critics will headscratch, but these people above know what they’re getting. And don’t know at the same time. It’s my best work yet.

No use putting the hubris cart before the brag horse, like Grammy-speak and all that, but this snotty, teary sleeve surely means that the cross section of peopleage above believing in my goods.

This music won’t let you down. It and I have a job to do. Thank you for your trust in me.
