KERRVILLE FOLKS FESTIVAL + SONG SCHOOL DOS AND DON'TS.

-Do drink plenty water. 106º is a lot tho.
-Don’t fret following Susan Werner on stage. Just play a damn ballad to get your feet in your shoes and worry much less about trying to match her genius and energy if you want to survive your set...
-Do enjoy the cold ice water with lemons in it at the entrance to the La Quinta hotel.
-Don’t ever again eat so much blueberry cobbler at lunch Wednesday unless you particularly enjoy vociferously pooping blue-grey whatever that was for the next 20 hours. TMI?
-Do express thanks to the Air Force Veteran guy that just walked past me here at the airport who I accosted (duh, you know me) and proceeded to tell me about working on F-100 Super Sabre as a mechanic in Vietnam.
-Do change the way great singers sing by getting them to sing less and speak the lyric more so that the singing itself has more power.
-Do improvise a mic when needed for instructional purposes (pictured). This is the Shure Cro-Magnon 300 series model. Yes it is wireless.
-Do get moved by the songs and stories of songwriting students to the point that their bravery motivates you to take another pass at “that” lyric that you believe is the kernel to something.
-Do realize that the new lyric: “Blue poop...You saw me standing alone...etc.” does not necessarily fit the above category.
