NATURE’S NEW VIEW

Today I’m a man
of straight-up words.
And this pic of our feeder
is screen-door blurred.
And I stood for ten minutes
looking at the birds feed.
You’ll have to trust me on this -
that chickadee and sparrow
and cardinal are all
side by side
for seed.

And instead of me going
all National Geographic
or congratulating God
for interspecies cooperation
or some shit like that,
I found myself saying
