Bessie 2008 - prob 8/7/2022 @10am

Bessie. Boozle. Brown-Eyed Girl. GirlDog. Blackie-Whitie. Boozlellini. Bess. Roscoe’s Dog. BoozleBop.

Named after a famous pre WW2 aviator as all our Standard Poodles have been, she’s the namesake of Bessie Coleman, the worlds first African-American woman with an international pilot’s license.

This problem child dog, known to many area behaviorists, found tied to a chair outside of a closed animal rescue, who loved me most when I had chicken. My brokenness at her departure for the Bridge knows no environs.

All I have is this old song of mine:

Angel of mercy
Whisk me away
Sweep me into tomorrow
So that this day is done
We'd be finished with goodbye
Hearts already broken
Not used to the lonely
But one day along

Now time is a demon
And it just marches on
Too quick for the old
Too slow for the young
Oh but just when you need it (Mmm)
To pick up the pace
It lingers with heartache
Stays in one place

But you tell me that time heals all
And that'll make it alright
You tell me we can make this so easy
If we think of this night
Like it was a thunderstorm passing
Or a bird in flight
And I could learn to think that way too
If goodbye was a moment
If this moment was lightning
If your heart was an open window
If these teardrops had wings

Now from the cradle to the grave
Is such as small stretch of forever
But it seems to take a lifetime
To make this last stand
And I know one day we'll laugh
And we'll look on the bright side
But that's no consolation
To this moment at hand

If we could just see the future
And the many miles between us
When we're light years apart
But still carrying on
It might help heal today
It might soothe the day after
But wishing don't do a thing
For the here and now
