THE VOICE 2014

I was cleaning out emails from hither and yon when I came across this nutty little bio for The Voice that I thought you’d get a kick out of. No, you never saw me, as I got cut in like Preliminary Round 3, well before actual TV judges, right before Wardrobe/Costume fitting. I was singing OK, but I saw the writing on the wall when most of the other contestants started calling me “Pops”, because...oh never mind. Enjoy:

I've been "at" acoustic music since the mid-seventies, where it seemed everyone at my college played guitar and sang. I wasn't about to be left out!! It was a mash-up from day one, however, as they were all Grateful Dead and James Taylor, where I was Motown and Isley Brothers. Oh Dear...So that mash up led me through to a jazz vocal stage, R&B and Jazz bass with a campus band, a fingerstyle guitar stage, a gospel choir, a Richard Thompson stage, a Stevie Wonder stage, a cocktail lounge - learn the Great American Songbook Stage, a decade of multicultural arts with children stint, numerous times opening for Anita Baker and Aretha Franklin, a 1- 1/2 year tour with George Carlin, and a 2 month tour with Shawn Colvin, and not in that order. There's so much magnificent music out there, and all you need is ears...

I'm a gregarious, hysterically funny, empathetic, quick-tongued 55 year old man who is always looking for The Happy. I'm a pretty great cook, I research and build small wind-up rubber band flying replicas of airplanes from between WW1 and WW2, I own 2 Standard Poodles named Roscoe and Bessie, I live with my partner Deb in a tiny ranch house on a hill just a few miles outside of Boston, I have a minivan named HiHo Silver that I have a note on, I run 2 miles with these damned dogs everyday and I still have a serious waistline. What is up with that incongruence, seriously? Will The Voice backdrop and curtains make my butt look fat? OK, kale everyday before you send me to L.A.
