ABOUT MY HOBBY

Every once in a while folks ask me about my models. As wordful as I might be, sometimes I have a time trying to tell what my planes and rubber bands and flying are about in a Cliff Notes fashion, and when I do, I end up with that strange evangelistic Flying Spaghetti Monster/Interfaith look in my eyes when I begin and people run.
“Hey Vance, I’ll be back...I need to go clean my comb...”

So, from my most recent article for our international model plane newsletter, I got a quote from my aforementioned partner Deborah re a view of what I do. Note that I love to build BIG PLANES:

"Deborah (standing I the doorway to my shop) - “I know how you like to build huge Mega models that darken the sky when they go, but I have to say that this one (the 26” span Laird Limousine) and that beautiful brown one over there (the 27” span Latecoere 26.6) are so much more manageable to view as a whole flying thing.”

This could be something to think about when we’re trying to recruit new people into our hobby - consider what excites them to see fly, and what looks manageable to them to build, much less transport. Thanks, Honey 🍯
