WELCOME BACK, BRATTLE STREET STUDENTS.

It’s a little hard to see, you have to look closely, but this picture says it all. This is how our children (and a school nurse) in our neighborhood are welcomed back to school.

I’ve baby sat one of this neighborhood's children while their sibling was born in the middle of the night. (I remember what I was reading too!)

I’ve listened to some of these children as they trusted implicitly and shrugged indecisively as to what gender they were or who they’d date.

I gave voice lessons to 3 of them (way cheap). 2 have gone on to get degrees in classical and pop music.

I remember one child that was coming for lessons ($7 I believe was our deal) and the deal was that they had to pay for part. I knew they were in the house when the dogs ran to the door to greet them and I heard a handful of quarters and dimes splatter on the kitchen table.

I ran out of free Habitat For Humanity graduation cards and $20 bills at the end of May - thanks a lot, graduation!!

These children shopped for us during Covid, shoveled our walks for fair money, and helped me cement in a 100lb slab front step.
