Notes from Home and the Road
First pic is of me and my brother Greg who came to Six On The Square this past weekend. I think his being there inspired probably one of the wilder storytelling shows of recent months from me.
Second pic is of an award that came earlier in the month. I entered Holiday Employment for Bad Dog Buffet on a whim. This has a gold stamp on it and everything.
NEW ALBUM FUNDRAISING - It’s time. I’ll be asking more formally later, but some have gotten a jump on this, thanks Dan, thanks Carol. I’d like to raise enough to not only make a really excellentish acoustic album of all New Vance Tunes, but promote it kinda big and get it into the hands of industry folks who - well who knows?
I’m shooting for 15K-ish
I’ll be contacting Grand Givers (1K or more) from last campaign time with a special note, and tapping those of you that can donate anything you like soon thereafter. Whatever you wanna support me with, your name will be somewhere on the CD. $1. $10,000. It don’t matter.
Anyone donating over $999 dollars will be listed as an Executive Producer.
Anything over 7,000 we can discuss adding a cover song to the album of your liking.
I also have a drawer full of lanyards from festivals over the years as keepsakes. And original scrawled lyric sheets. These items - oh hell, I don’t know how much yet. But they’re here.
Here are the tunes:
Pie & Whiskey………………..……you know this! Mike Posner is threatening to record it too
Day Before November………..…..The poem piece
Hitman………………………..….…uptempo folk/rock about an old guy with a past after an accident
Flyby………………….………..…...a dark corner in the Goodbye Pluto mold
Zombie Pattycake…………..……..part of my well known Halloween corner of my set
Brunswick County…………..……..written in a day for a NC folk series promo CD
Trust……………………………..….fun, paranoid tune in recent sets
When I Cross Over……………..…a Unitarian Gospel waltz. Seriously.
Another Great Day ………………..kinda ragtimey romp of appreciation
Cousin Shelly’s Station Wagon….A Tom Waits-ish coming of age ballad thing
Good, Good, Man…………………acoustic Folk R&B love ballad- here’s a scratchy-voiced Monday taste - https://youtu.be/pKjj1Zi9e1Y
A cover tune……………………….Richard Thompson's Farewell, Farewell or the 70’s hit or Wildflower by Skylark - or both...
There you have it. No title yet. Contact me here, at vance@vancegilbert.com, Facebook, or however you like. Thanks in advance for your support.
