Write vance@vancegilbert.com for an address to shoot me a check. Or just gimmie money when you see me, and a slip of paper with your name on it so I can put your name or the name/memory you give it in on the CD.

Thanking donors has gotten crazy, but lemme try - Christina, Todd, Tim & Lori (sorry I forgot you last time…), the Fennellys, Tara, …Lordy, I have most certainly forgotten someone. Sorry. Surely your name will be on the CD...

Thanks to all who donated or considered...

~ Last Minute Holiday Party - This started a few years back to raise funds for my sick dog (he's great now) and is now a holiday tradition. I have 2 on board (Dec 20th is gone), but yeah, I am available. 'Tween now and up to an 'cluding New Years. Cheaper than you think. Come up with a cause you want to give to, name a price, we split it 50-50 or 60-40 if I have to travel, and the 50 or 40% goes to the charity of your choice. You get me playing your party, I get to play and make money, we both get to give a little something to some good cause. Dates are open. Ping vance@vancegilbert.com for inquiries.

Voice, Performance, Songwriting Coaching - 3 new students as of last week...In person or Skype or FaceTime. vance@vancegilbert.com. About $75 for an hour. Yeah, I'll give you plenty to do for your money…One time or steady students welcome. Hey Sarah, that was fun!! Glad you liked the soup (no, not everyone will get soup…she came from Canada…) Ok, everyone will get soup…you have to ask ahead of time.

THE Thanksgiving show for me for the past decade or more. I love the hour and a half drive, the snacks divine, the sound is perfect, and a mess of CT friends come out. In fact, I'm getting word that a mess of people are planning to show, so it could be packed - you wanna get tickets early?

My friend, the late Peter Gray used to say that Thanksgiving was the one holiday that didn't necessarily come with a religious pretense or another and that is why he loved it better than all the others. Sorry Pamela, I'm telling this story.

….Thanksgiving 1980,
So I end up there in Newburyport, MA, with Pam, to the smell of all this great cooking, all these kids from 2 marriages, all these white folks I didn't know from Adam, planning to spend the nite on the couch, Pam and I doing the "bringing a *friend* home that I went to college with. We had agreed to be as platonic as Oscar and Felix while in this house. Pete, the DAD, a tall, commanding, deep basso-profundo-voiced but kind guy, was going around the table with the plate of turkey asking each and everybody "light or dark." I said "a bit of each please.." Pam said "white meat, please". I gave the subtlest of sideways smirks that I guess this giant of a man caught as he was heading to the next person. He gently stepped back to Pam and I, bent his head between us and said, so no one else could hear, "You two can work *that* out later between yourselves…"

Pete became one of my best friends, was a rabid supporter of what I did, was one of the reasons I learned as may jazz standards as I ever do now know.

Happy Thanksgiving, Everyone
